Hotel of the week: Blow Up Hall, Poznan
An arty accommodation experience in Poland
The new Blow Up Hall in the Polish city of Poznan is part hotel, part modern art installation, says Tam Leach in the Independent. The brainchild of Polish businesswoman Grazyna Kulczyk, it is a mysterious, monochrome world from which the mundane has been ruthlessly excised.
A grand piece of video art stands where you'd expect the front desk; newcomers are issued with iPods instead of keys; and guest rooms lie behind numberless black doors down featureless black corridors. Yet it's all very luxurious, with great "nouvelle Polish" cuisine on offer and "generous" ensuite bathrooms.
