Manchester United have confirmed that crowd favourite Carlos Tevez will be leaving the club, with local rivals Manchester City now favourites to sign him, although Chelsea are also interested.

United announced that although they had made an offer of £25.5m for the player's services he had turned them down...

Big spending Manchester City also look to have secured the services of Paraguayan striker Roque Santa Cruz from Blackburn. The 27-year-old has been linked with a move to City since last summer and almost joined them in January. He is now set to join Mark Hughes' outfit in an £18m deal.

Santa Cruz will be City's second big signing of the summer joining Gareth Barry at Eastlands...

Carlos Tevez' compatriot Javier Mascherano could also be leaving his club. The midfielder reportedly wants to leave Liverpool as his wife does not want to return to England.

Rafa Benitez wants £35m for the player, and Barcelona appear ready to open negotiations. They will offer around £20m plus possibly striker Bojan Krkic....

Manchester United are ready to start spending the £80m they will get for Cristiano Ronaldo and are lining up a £25m deal for Lyon striker Karim Benzema. The Reds are also being linked with a surprise move for Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas to replace Edwin Van Der Sar, who is now 39.

Former England striker Michael Owen, who has been advertising his services by sending out a glossy brochure to Premier League clubs, will be offered a deal by Hull City, which would see him get a basic salary plus extras for playing and scoring goals...

Arsenal have completed the signing of 23-year-old Belgian defender Thomas Vermaelen from Ajax on a long-term contract for an undisclosed fee...

New Wigan boss Roberto Martinez has made his first signing - Jordi Gomez from Espanyol. The player had been with Martinez's old club Swansea on a season long loan and will now join him at Wigan.

The 24-year-old playmaker scored 14 goals for Swansea last season and will cost £1.7m. ·
