Anyone who has just flown the 25 hours from Britain to Melbourne will need a relaxing place to unwind – and they'll find it at the Royce Hotel, says Mark Rowe in the Independent. This recently refurbished, family-run boutique establishment is located in what was, in the 1920s, a Rolls-Royce showroom. Inside, some of the original Art Deco features remain, but these have been successfully married with modern "Aussie chic". The atmosphere is calm, the bedrooms (featuring huge, comfortable beds) are spacious, and the food, which could be described as "global Pacific Rim", is "excellent".
