Video ‘proves’ Pakistani extrajudicial murders
Graphic footage shows young man being shot in leg and left to bleed to death (video)
A video of paramilitary police in Karachi dragging away a young man accused of robbery, shooting him in the legs and leaving him to die has provoked outrage in Pakistan.
The video of Sarfraz Shah being killed is being hailed as the clearest evidence yet that Pakistani police, known as the Rangers, are committing extrajudicial murders. Previous attempts to document such activity, including a video of young men being shot by a firing squad, have been dismissed as fakes by the Pakistani government.

This time, however, the high quality of the footage shot by cameraman Abdul Salam Soomro has been deemed irrefutable, and is consequently being played on TV channels across the country and in neighbouring India. Since releasing the video to the press, Soomro is reported to have received death threats.
In response to the incident, the Pakistani government has set up a Joint Interrogation Team to conduct an investigation in a "transparent manner" with findings that "will be made public". Two of the five Rangers seen in the video have been arrested. ·
