Bobbi Kristina Brown dies aged 22 after six-month coma

Bobbi Kristina Brown, the daughter of late singer Whitney Houston, has died six months after being found unconscious in her bathtub.

The 22-year old passed away at a hospice in Georgia on Sunday surrounded by relatives, the family said in a statement.

"She is finally at peace in the arms of God. We want to again thank everyone for their tremendous amount of love and support during these last few months."

Brown – known as Krissy to friends and family – was the only child of Houston and the R&B singer Bobby Brown.

She was found unresponsive in her bathtub in Atlanta in January, just days before the third anniversary of her mother's death.

Brown was rushed to hospital and placed in a medically-induced coma, but never regained consciousness, the BBC reports. A police report described the incident as a "drowning".

Grammy-winning singer Missy Elliot was among many celebrities to send their condolences to the family. "My heart is truly heavy. May you rest in peace with your mommy," she tweeted.

Houston died in 2012 from accidental drowning in a bathtub at a hotel in Beverly Hills, California. The coroner's report revealed years of cocaine abuse and heart disease contributed to her death.

Bobbi Brown was an aspiring singer and actress and dreamed of carrying on her mother's legacy, but her career had not yet taken off.

She is expected to be laid to rest alongside her mother and grandfather at a cemetery in New Jersey.
