Video: Sussex police saddle up to catch Shetland pony

A Shetland pony has given police the run-around in Crawley, Sussex, with video footage showing the animal wandering around a housing estate, police in tow.

It eventually took four police cars to corner and capture the horse, which meandered through Gatwick Road, Manor Road, London Road and Langley Drive.

It's still unknown where the animal escaped from but for now, it has been taken to a local yard in Charlwood, where a local has offered to take care of it temporarily. The RSPCA has also been contacted and an attempt to find the owner is underway.[[{"type":"media","view_mode":"content_original","fid":"89935","attributes":{"class":"media-image"}}]]

A police spokesman said: "The pony is currently being kept at a private yard and remains the responsibility of Sussex Police until the owner is found."

This isn't the first time a Shetland pony has made the news for wreaking havoc on the streets of Britain: earlier this month, one stopped all runway activity at Gloucestershire airport as it ran around the airstrip before being caught by police. It had escaped from a farm located near the airport.
