Samantha Cameron is to launch her own clothing label, joining forces with her former stylist, Isabel Spearman, for her first post-No 10 venture, it has been revealed. The range could be on the high street by next year.

Former PM David's wife is no stranger to the world of fashion, having been named Accessories Designer of the Year by in 2009 Glamour magazine for her work with luxury goods brand Smythson, but this will be her first clothing line.

Given that Cameron's sartorial flair has been the subject of comment since she first entered the public eye, it's not a surprising move her outfits, both formal and informal, have flown off the shelves as fashion fans rush to recreate her looks.

"Conservative charm" was how Vanity Fair summed up the 45-year-old's appeal when she made the magazine's International Best Dressed List in 2015, alongside the likes of Taylor Swift and Amal Clooney.

Her inclusion "raised a few eyebrows at the time, for although the Prime Minister's wife has a chic sense of style, she's hardly known for trailblazing in the world of fashion", says the Daily Mail.

Much like fellow trendsetter the Duchess of Cambridge, it appears to be precisely Cameron's taste for simple, elegant ensembles from high street stores that has made her a fashion icon to the British public.
