Street argument ends up in hospital

Two women from north-western China are recovering in hospital after they collapsed at the end of a marathon eight-hour argument on a street corner in Ankang. Local media reports that neither woman ate nor drank during the confrontation, which was over the settlement of a debt. Police said one of the women was "foaming at the mouth and incontinent".

Bittersweet victory for baseball player

Baseball player Brandon Thomas has tasted the highs and lows of the game in one swing of the bat. The Gateway Grizzlies star hit a grand-slam home run, sending the ball sailing over the grandstand and into the car park, where it smashed the windscreen of his truck. Thomas reportedly said it was "totally worth it" as his team trounced their rivals, the Joliet Slammers, 17-6.
