Four Seasons opens a new hotel next to the Tower of London
The majestic former Port of London Authority HQ – and venue for the first-ever UN reception – is as just as impressive on the inside
Designed by Edwin Cooper in 1922, the magnificent building located at Ten Trinity Square, just a stone's throw away from Tower Bridge and the Tower of London, is not only significant because of its elaborate exterior. In the past century, it has hosted the United Nations, been the headquarters of the Port of London Authority, and even starred in a James Bond film. However, despite its imposing grandeur and history, it's possible you've never noticed it until now.
This London landmark has recently opened as the home of a new Four Seasons Hotel, comprising 100 immaculate rooms including 10 residential-style suites, along with 41 private residences, a private members' club and an expansive spa with eight treatment rooms. Yet, while being an ideal base for visitors to explore London's dynamic culture, the hotel is also set to be a sophisticated City hub for dining, cocktails and meetings.
For haute cuisine featuring British ingredients, La Dame de Pic presents the culinary vision of chef Anne-Sophie Pic - currently the only female French chef to hold three Michelin stars. Her carefully crafted seasonal menus include dishes such as Hereford beef or Dorset crab prepared in the French style. A second culinary hotspot, Asian Restaurant, will open at the hotel this spring, focussing on the foods and flavours of China and Japan.

There will be private dining rooms in both restaurants, and the gracious UN Ballroom has been beautifully restored in all its glory, making its richly panelled walls and architectural detailing an elegant setting for large events of up to 200 guests. But, for more intimate coffee meetings or after-work drinks with friends, colleagues and international guests, the all-day Rotunda bar is a spectacular and inviting setting.
