TV host sets fire to magician's head in bizarre 'stunt' - video

US magician severely burnt after presenter douses him with flammable liquid

A MAGICIAN is threatening legal action after being left badly burnt when his head was set on fire by a TV presenter.

Wayne Houchin, an American magician, was making an appearance on a Dominican television programme called Closer to the Stars when the guest host, Franklin Barazarte, suddenly set his head alight.

It is difficult to see exactly what happened in the video (below), but Barazarte had apparently taken a handful of 'Agua de Florida', a perfume used in the rituals of the Afro-Caribbean religion Santeria, ignited it and rubbed it all over Houchin’s head and face.

The magician reportedly suffered severe burns on his head, face, neck and hands.

Houchin said after the incident: "I am in pain, but am recovering. I was not aware he was going to do this. This was not a stunt or part of an act: this was a criminal attack."

The magician added that he is now "resting, healing and working through the legal process in the Dominican Republic".

He added: "The attack was intentional. The host didn't trip and accidentally spill it on me. He intended to pour flaming liquid on me."

The motivations behind Barazarte’s actions remain unclear and the TV channel has so far declined to comment. The episode was not broadcast on television but a mobile phone recording has emerged.
