Not for the first time Arsenal are reportedly on the brink of signing a new striker. But this time it could actually happen as Arsene Wenger is ready to offer Lyon £54m in return for Alexandre Lacazette, claims the Daily Star.

It's no secret that Arsenal have been tracking the 26-year-old French frontman for over a year and according to the Star they are now ready to move having heard that Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund "are also keen".

The German club are expected to sanction the sale of Emerick Aubameyang to Manchester City in the coming weeks, and German media sources claim that Dortmund have identified Lacazette as a suitable replacement. That's put the wind up Wenger, as have rumours that Jurgen Klopp is considering tabling a bid for the Lyon marksman.

As ever it appears it is only the prospect of missing out on the player that has spurred Wenger into action, and once again there is a danger that he has moved too late.

Meanwhile Metro says that the Gunners have also tabled a sizeable bid for Barcelona midfielder Arda Turan. The Turkish playmaker has been a bit-part player at the Camp Nou in the last 12 months and stories linking him to the Emirates first began circulating at the start of this year.

Metro, citing Spanish paper Marca as its source, says that Arsenal are confident that their bid of £26m will "seal the transfer" of the 30-year-old, with Barcelona ready to sell as new coach Ernesto Valverde prepares for a summer clearout ahead of a major shopping spree.

Finally, while confusion still reigns over the futures of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez, one Gunner who is expected to sign a new deal with the club is Aaron Ramsey.

According to the Daily Telegraph Arsenal are looking to tie the midfielder down with a lucrative contract that "will maintain his status among the club's current top earners". The Telegraph says that Arsene Wenger sees Ramsey as a key component of his squad now that he has switched to a 3-4-2-1 formation, allowing the Welsh wizard to thrive "in a more liberated central midfield role".
