Real Madrid superstar Kaka ‘prefers Chelsea to Arsenal'
Brazilian wizard certain to leave the Bernabeu this summer – and Roman Abramovich is a big fan
LORD LUCAN might still be alive but no one's in any doubt that Arsenal's chances of winning a trophy this season are well and truly dead. As a result the Gunners look unlikely to get their hands on Brazilian wizard Kaka in the summer transfer window.
The Real Madrid midfielder was first linked to Arsenal last August but Arsene Wenger decided instead to snap up Chelsea reject Yosef Benayoun, proving that the Nutty Professor has been on questionable form all season.
Now Spanish rag Marca claims that the 29-year-old Kaka is definitely on his way out of the Bernabeu at the end of the season but he's turned his nose up at Arsenal and looks likely to sign for Chelsea.
Since arriving in Spain in a £56m deal from AC Milan three years ago, Kaka has failed to shine and Real coach Jose Mourinho believes he's past his best. Despite that the Spanish giants will demand £30m for the Brazilian with Marca saying Chelsea are confident of beating off interest from Inter Milan and Paris Saint Germain. Apparently Blues owner Roman Abramovich is a big fan of Kaka's and sees him as the man around whom to build the new Chelsea.
The Sun mentions in passing that Daniel Opare could be joining the Gunners next season. The 21-year-old defender, a member of Ghana's African Nations Cup squad, has been in good form for Belgian side Standard Liege this season and apparently Wenger believes he has all the qualities to do well in the Premier League. Mind you, didn't he once say the same thing about Sebastien Squillaci?
Manchester United boss Alex Ferguson is reported to be monitoring the progress of 17-year-old Ajax sensation Viktor Fischer. The Manchester Evening News says the United boss believes players who have come up through the Dutch youth system have what it takes to thrive in the hurly-burly of the Premier League – witness Edwin van der Sar, Ruud van Nistelrooy and Jaap Stam – and the Danish-born Fischer falls into the same category.
The teenage midfielder isn't the only Ajax player to have caught Ferguson's eye in recent months, and the MEN claims that the wily old Scot might make Ajax a double bid in the summer for Fischer and his teammate Christian Eriksen. The 19-year-old Eriksen has been on United's radar for several months and Ferguson will run the rule over him when the two sides meet in the second leg of their Europa League tie on Thursday.
Still with United and Talksport says that the club are playing the waiting game with Norwegian shotstopper Sondre Rossbach. The 16-year-old did well in a trial period at Old Trafford last December and Talksport claim Ferguson has been advised to give him a permanent contract. The United boss was happy to do that but then Rossbach went and damaged his ankle playing for Norwegian outfit IF Urædd. He's since undergone surgery and United want to make sure there's no lasting damage to the joint before taking Rossbach on full-time.
