Arsenal players ballet dance in new Citroen advert
Oxlade-Chamberlain and Szczesny among the Gunners pirouetting with English National Ballet in video
THEY are scenes that would make legendary Gunners hardman Tony Adams wince: Arsenal players pirouetting to classical music.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Alex Song, Bacary Sagna and Wojchiech Szczesny have swapped football boots for ballet slippers in a new Citroen advert.
In the video (below) the footballers look nervous when they first join dancers from the English National Ballet, clumsily copying moves and attempting spins, but soon they get the hang of it. Each player has their own strengths. Song impresses with some quick feet. Oxlade-Chamberlain defies his lack of height with some impressive lifts.
But it is Szczesny, the Arsenal goalkeeper branded "error-prone" in the past, who puts in the most eye-catching performance, leaping through the air with a composure that will be unrecognisable to many Emirates regulars.
Not that Martin Keown is impressed - appearing on the piano in the advert, the former defender's scowl reminds viewers that there was a time when Arsenal were known for their invincibility on the pitch rather than their proficiency on the dance floor.
