Katy Perry’s cleavage too much for Sesame Street
Video: Elmo rejects the saucy pop singer's advances after a brief chase
A three-minute "play date" featuring Katy Perry begging the fluffy red Muppet Elmo to play with her while singing her hit single Hot 'n' Cold, has been scrapped following complaints that her dress was too revealing.
Perry, the pop star renowned for her songs about lesbianism - and appearing almost completely naked in her music videos - was asked to appear in an episode of the hit children's show but her comic turn ended up on the cutting room floor after parents who watched the sequence on YouTube before it was broadcast deemed Katy's cleavage too much for their children.
Perry's fiancé, Russell Brand, responded in typically flippant style, quipping to his followers on Twitter: "Today's Sesame Street will NOT be brought to you by the number 34 or the letter D."
Whether or not Parry's cleavage is suitable for children, it is instructive to recall the total lack of controversy back in 1988 as to whether the extremely busty Jessica Rabbit ought to have covered up in the children's classic Who Framed Roger Rabbit? ·
