Furniture and people fly as P&O cruiser hit by storm
Video: Carnage ensues when freak storm hits ship off New Zealand
Retirees, X-Factor rejects and honeymooners, be warned. This is the fate that could befall you next time you decide to spend your summer cruising the Pacific on an ocean liner.
In 2008 a P&O ship called the Pacific Sun was cruising 400 miles north of New Zealand when it suddenly found itself caught in the middle of a horrifying freak storm.
The high winds and 25-foot waves began to violently rock the ship, just as the 1,732 passengers and 671 crew had begun to head to the restaurant for dinner.
Holiday makers then found themselves, not only being thrown violently from side to side, but having to dodge chairs, tables and other flying furniture.
In the interest of enjoying the hilarity of this video guilt-free, The First Post suggests you ignore the reports of broken limbs, ribs and collar bones suffered by these poor holidaymakers, and instead look out for the cameo of a particularly rotund, stripy-topped gentleman who may or may not appear in the 4th and 54th seconds of the video. ·
