Bear goes skiing
Video: A black bear is filmed summer skiing in Whistler
Eight-year-old Will E Chiyasu captured the moment a black bear decided to go skiing on a patch of snow in high summer in the Whistler ski resort, British Columbia. The footage was shot on July 21 this year from a chairlift.
Bears are something of a hazard in the Canadian ski village. Many of them have learned to open car doors, or hold open gates to gardens while they forage for food left by humans.
Bears are omnivores, changing their diet dramatically as the seasons vary - and very happy to try any human leftovers. However, bear-human relations remain reasonably cordial, with very few aggressive incidents ever reported.
The American Black Bear population is healthy - it's thought there are twice as many of the bears as there are of all other types of bear combined.
