Critics have laid into Bristol Palin for her dreadful acting in an appearance she makes on the prime-time television show Secret Life of an American Teenager.

The show, which will air on July 5, deals with the unplanned pregnancy of a teenager and features Bristol, 19, playing a teenage mother who befriends the show's main character.

Unfortunately, Bristol, who is a teenage mother in real life, fails to channel her own experience into a convincing performance. Rick Porter on the television blog Zap2it said: "Let's just say she's not a natural and leave it at that."

Emily Yahr from the Washington Post's Team TV is less kind: "We could describe the zombie-like way her eyes glaze over during the line, "We're. All. Teen. Moms." And her delivery of a joke (we think) that Amy is "the world's greatest French horn player, and I'm YoYo Ma" - seems to even confuse Woodley [the lead actress] in the scene." ·
