Pelican attacks Australian weatherman live on air

Australian weatherman Steve Jacobs has discovered there is truth in the old adage about working with animals and children after being attacked by a pelican while reading the weather forecast.

Video of the attack has become a big hit on YouTube. It shows the Nine Network presenter introducing a bulletin live from Taronga Zoo in Sydney when the bird, called Marnie, lunges at him.

The pelican then backs off, but as viewers are shown maps of Australia the bird moves in for the kill and viewers can hear the presenter squealing. When the camera cuts back to the zoo a hysterical Jacobs is seen pinned to the wall with the bird pecking at his backside. ·
