Hotel of the week: Dean Street Townhouse, Central London
An unlikely combination of style, comfort and good value - all in Central London
The Soho House Group is known for its hip private members' clubs in London and New York, says Tom Robbins in The Observer. But now, with the opening of Dean Street Townhouse, it has lowered the drawbridge to the great unwashed.
This 39-room hotel and restaurant, in two 18th-century townhouses in Soho, is not just open to non-members - it's also almost Travelodge cheap. Yet standards have not slipped an inch.
Rooms are inevitably a bit noisy, but they're also light, simple and deeply comfortable in a Hamptons-meets-Hampshire way; and the food is fabulous.
Doubles £95-£270.
