Hotel of the week: The Pheasant, North Yorkshire
Relax in the luxurious, traditional settings of the Pheasant, North Yorkshire
The village of Harome, near Helmsley, already had one fine hotel, The Star, when a local inn, The Pheasant, came up for sale last year. The Star’s owners, Andrew and Jacqui Purns, teamed up with chef Peter Neville to buy it – and now Harome has two, says Fiona Duncan in The Daily Telegraph.
That’s a lot of hotels for such a small village – “but it works”: the “flashy” Star appeals to a young crowd, while the Pheasant is quieter, a “relaxing” place “sympathetically decorated in natural colours”. Food and service are both “superb”, and there’s even a swimming pool.
