Don Draper pitches Facebook Timeline
Reworked video shows Mad Men’s ad maestro promoting Zuckerberg’s latest product
WHO BETTER to sell Facebook's latest product than the (fictional) king of advertising himself, Don Draper? In a meta twist, a re-worked version of a classic scene from TV series Mad Men has emerged in which Draper does just that.
A video, created by social media consultant Eric Leist, uses a teary scene from an episode of the 1960s-set show in which Draper coins the word 'carousel' to describe Kodak's slideshow cassette.
Draper praises Facebook Timeline/Kodak carousel as giving users "a deeper bond with the product... nostalgia, delicate but potent".
The new Facebook Timeline, which is due to be launched this Friday, will change the way a person's profile appears, and make it easier to access information from weeks, months, and even years previous.
Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg himself describes Timeline as "the story of your life and [a] completely new way to express yourself". ·
