Hotel of the week: a beautifully refurbished old shepherd’s hut

LAST UPDATED AT 17:22 ON Wed 21 Oct 2009

Glamping – or glamorous camping – is all the rage these days, and Tilley's Hut is a charming new variation on the theme, says Sally Shalam in The Observer. It’s a beautifully refurbished old shepherd's hut beside a duck pond in a "lovely" corner of Dorset's Blackmore Vale.

Inside, there’s wooden furniture painted in delicate pastel shades, a "cosy" bed, a kilim rug on the floor and lilies in a vase, while the loo and slate-tiled shower are housed separately, in a little building with underfloor heating and "thick new towels". Breakfast, homemade and delicious, is left on the steps each morning.

Tilley's Hut (01747-854375) - £150 for two nights b&b (minimum stay). ·
