Hotel of the week: stylish, family-friendly barns by the Norfolk coast

LAST UPDATED AT 17:08 ON Wed 7 Oct 2009

These converted barns in the village of North Barsham are family-friendly – “but for once that hasn’t resulted in a style bypass”, says Sally Shalam in Conde Nast Traveller. There are five, grouped around a courtyard, each self-catering and sleeping from four to 14.

They are all spacious, with “well-equipped galley kitchens”, but have their own distinct styles: Long Meadow, for instance, has “stripped timber, exposed stone and a subtle palette of textiles and painted furnishings”. There’s a communal games room, a spa and a steam room; the beach at nearby Wells-next-the-Sea is “fabulous”.

Barsham Barns (01328 821 744) - three nights from £389 (sleeps four) to £1,658 (sleeps 14). ·
