Fenton and other bad boys: Top Ten virals of the year
From the sharp-suited City boy to the luckless cyclist – the videos we all loved this year
THIS has been another golden year for YouTube, with plenty more enduring classics spawned by the site. Whether you're into errant pets, natural disasters or Charlie Sheen re-inventing the English-language, there's something for everyone in our best of 2011 viral hits round-up.
Allesio Restani
The sharp-suited trader resurrected the 1980's 'greed is good' culture when he told a stunned BBC interviewer "I go to bed dreaming about another recession". Although he went on to give some practical advice for coping with the recession, Rastani's brutal honesty did little but confirm all our worst stereotypes of 'City boys'.
Fenton!
A man took his dog for a walk in Richmond Park, and the rest became YouTube history. Fenton/Benton's exploits quickly generated a slew of memes and is arguably the most copied viral of the year.
Homeless vocalist
Ted Williams was begging for change in Ohio when his rare vocal talents became apparent, getting him off the streets and on to the airwaves. Williams lamented the years wasted on drugs, although the impact of his glorious voice is heightened by his bedraggled appearance.
Talking dog
The number one viral hit of 2011, with over 74 million of us checking out this heartless bastard tormenting his dog. The conversation is a knee-slapper, as the creature reacts to news that no meaty treats will be coming his way.
Thriller cat
If you thought that the internet had exhausted all possibilities for cat performance, then prepare to be astounded all over again by Michael Jackson's furry apprentice.
