Get away from it all and feel like a millionaire in this South African nature reserve near Cape Town

Staying at the Tintswalo is like living "in a million-dollar Californian beach house with no neighbours", says Raymond Whitaker in the Independent on Sunday. Just half an hour from Cape Town, it has its own stretch of shoreline in a nature reserve. Thanks to fierce planning rules, there are only ten rooms, all built around indigenous milkwood trees and so close to the ocean "it whooshes through pebbles almost at your feet". The beds are "vast and exceedingly comfortable", and each room has glass doors opening onto an external deck. "Sophisticated" fusion-style cooking is served in the restaurant.
