Hotel of the week: Montage, Beverly Hills

Montage Hotel

Opened in 2008, the Montage is an elegant mix of old-style Hollywood glamour and state of the art technology and comfort

The Montage "aims to capture the glamour of California’s 1930s golden age", says Sarah Barrell in the Independent on Sunday. Its Spanish colonial-style building has the same "fanciful gilded cupola" as the iconic City Hall building nearby and its interior is richly decorated with old European objets d'art. Yet the hotel was only opened last year – and so rooms are "state of the art", with "enormous beds" and flatscreen TVs in the bathrooms. Breakfast in the main restaurant is "decadent"; and there is a "pretty grill" overlooking the hotel's "classy rooftop pool" and the Hollywood sign.

Double rooms from $495 per night. Contact: +1 310 860 7800; montagebeverlyhills.com. ·
