Hotel of the Week: Copperhill Mountain Lodge

Swedish ski resorts get stylish

LAST UPDATED AT 14:22 ON Wed 4 Mar 2009

Sweden's sense of style is justly celebrated – yet the country's ski resorts have always felt more like "Surbiton than Stockholm", says Rhiannon Batten in the Guardian.

But all that has begun to change – and the new Copperhill Mountain Lodge in Are is leading the way. It looks like "the kind of place where the editors of Wallpaper* magazine might do their apres-skiing", with eclectic interiors "inspired by the region's copper mining history"; only the "soft-rock classics" played by the lobby pianist "strike a dud note".

The views are great, and the shared rooms very reasonably priced.
