Republicans’ inappropriate Obama impersonator
Performer removed from stage after series of racial jokes at Republican meeting (with video)
As a party with a somewhat chequered past in questioning the authenticity of the American president, you would have thought the Republicans might have made a few checks before booking a Barack Obama impersonator to speak at the Republican Leadership Conference last weekend.
Yet it was only after performer Reggie Brown had taken to the stage and used Obama's skin colour as the butt of a number of jokes that organisers decided that they had maybe made a mistake.
Brown, who initially drew cheers from the crowd with an impressive portrayal of Obama's mannerisms, made a number of jokes in apparent reference to Obama's white mother. While discussing Black History Month, the impersonator said: "Michelle celebrates the full month. I celebrate half."
Brown's performance was cut short by RLC President and CEO Charlie Davis, who pulled the act before the end of his routine. "I just thought he had gone too far," Davis said. "He was funny the first 10 or 15 minutes, but it was inappropriate, it was getting ridiculous." ·

This story puts an interesting spin on what transpires in the video. It implies that he was pulled for the jokes about Obama but it was only when he started having a go at the Republican candidates for 2012 that he was pulled - the Obama jokes seemed to get a pass. To be fair, the GOP's candidates must be a sorry bunch if they don't even get respect at their own meetings (and i thought elephants had thick skins!).
Clearly Republicans can't take a joke... Interesting that he gets sent off when he's slamming Republican candidates... If you can't take it, don't dish it out.
