Cringes all round as TV man tells Dalai Lama pizza joke
Hapless Australian TV presenter has to explain lame joke to Tibetan spiritual leader (with video)
An Australian TV presenter was left cringing and holding his head in his hands after his attempt to tell the Dalai Lama a joke about himself failed miserably.
Karl Stefanovic told the ancient joke to the Tibetan spiritual leader during an interview for Channel 9. It goes: "The Dalai Lama walks into a pizza shop and says, 'Can you make me one with everything?'"
The joke is so old that it is only a surprise the Dalai Lama, 75, hasn't heard it before. Rather than the chuckle Stefanovic was hoping to elicit, he was met with a confused "What is that?" from the Dalai Lama, who went on to observe that it was physically impossible.
Stefanovic, meanwhile, had his head in his hands, lamenting: "I knew this wouldn't work." Oddly, this was, finally, enough to get a laugh out of the Dalai Lama. ·

it seems like the interviewer does not realise that the gag is a pun and puns do not have meaning for people whose first language is not English.. Australians for you ... and then the woman , just to prove that she didn't understand it either, says 'one with the lot' ?!
