Arab rapper lampoons ‘Saudis in Audis’
Close-to-the-knuckle comedian GoRemy’s video is an internet hit
A comedian from Virginia has made a rap video about men in motors that would give even Jeremy Clarkson's dubious racial commentary a run for its money.
The song Saudis in Audis shows Remy Munasifi, an American comedian of Iraqi and Lebanese origin, dressed in sunglasses and the traditional keffiyeh headdress driving around town in his shiny new A8, complete with "mustache holder".
Other lyrical treats in the video, which has been watched nearly three million times, include "Up to Jeddah down to Mecca, bet I never drive a Jetta, gas on empty, don't use a frown, Saudis just put hose in the ground".
It's not the first time that Munasifi, whose internet alter ego GoRemy has garnered over 50 million hits on YouTube, has played on Middle Eastern stereotypes in his art, he also has a song called Falafel, She Thinks My Camel's Sexy and A-R-A-B: The Rap. ·
