Tuddenham Mill, Suffolk
Boutique hotel set in old mill
Centred on a 17th century mill set in "beautiful" Suffolk countryside, Tuddenham is "a perfect hideaway for a weekend of amour", says Tom Chesshyre in the Times.
The public spaces are "dramatic", with exposed beams, designer sofas and, in the bar, a blazing fire and the old mill wheel. There are three rooms in the main house and others in two chalet-style, vaguely Scandinavian buildings nearby.
The rooms are superb, with giant freestanding egg-shaped baths, Jo Malone toiletries, L-shaped sofas, gas fires, DVD players and Bose CD players. In the restaurant, the food is seasonal, fresh and "packed with flavour".
