Old Bank Hotel, Oxford

Hassle-free perfection in the middle of Oxford

LAST UPDATED AT 14:41 ON Tue 14 Dec 2010

The Old Bank is "a perfect spot for a hassle-free stay right in the centre of the dreaming spires", says Tom Chesshyre in the Times.

Housed in a former branch of Barclays Bank just around the corner from Christ Church Meadows, the hotel is spacious and stylish with good views.

Rooms are big and "beige, but in a soothing way", with "exposed beams", "trendy photographs" and leaded windows.

The menu in the brasserie is simple and "satisfying" (salads, hamburgers, steaks, sea bass); breakfast is a “feast”; and there’s even a big car park (a rare luxury in the centre of Oxford).
