With its "flawless beaches and glittering late-night scene", Punta del Este in Uruguay is a hedonistic hot spot favoured by surfers and millionaires alike, at least during its short peak season (December and January).

Opened last year by a half-Norwegian, half-Uruguayan mogul, this "all-white dream home" has 12 suites, each designed by a different local artist.

It will appeal to anyone who shares the owner’s fondness for polo, chargrilled meat and modern art – or who just likes "soaking in the sunshine".
