Slapper Zhivago: Omar Sharif swipes at female fan

EGYPTIAN movie star Omar Sharif has spoiled his matinee idol image by getting caught on camera taking a swipe at a female fan.

The 79-year old screen legend, star of the 1960s classics Doctor Zhivago and Lawrence of Arabia, lost his rag when posing for pictures at the Doha Film Festival.
 
Sahrif was happily posing with fans, when an enthusiastic young lady rushed up to him. The actor then lashed out and yelled at her to “wait a minute” in Arabic.
 
After a moment Sharif regained his composure, apologised and stood with the woman for a photo.
 
This is not his first brush with controversy. In 2003, Sharif was fined £1,000 for attacking a police officer after a losing streak in a Paris casino.  ·
