Anti-wrinkle cream helps boost Boots figures
Business Digest: Protect and Perfect products contribute to a jump in revenues for retailer
High street chemist chain Alliance Boots has released improved half-yearly figures which it says have been boosted by sales of its anti-wrinke creams.
The Nottingham-based company reported a two per cent rise in revenues in its health and beauty division to £3.4bn in the six months to September 30, largely because of the popularity of its Protect and Perfect beauty creams.
Overall revenues for the firm, which has more than 3,000 stores around the world, jumped by six per cent to £8.9bn. Deals with other retailers, including supermarket Waitrose and children's store Motehrcare, had also helped with the figures.
But despite the encouraging results the company is shedding 900 non-store jobs in the UK over the next three years.
