Pearson denies FT sale rumour
Pearson denies Financial Times buy-out following merger between Penguin and Random House
Pearson has denied a report that it is looking for buyers for its daily newspaper the Financial Times, according to The Guardian. Bloomberg reported last night that Pearson, which only last week agreed a merger between its publishing house Penguin and Random House, was "planning to explore a sale" of the FT and "has decided to consider offers for the newspaper this year". The Daily Telegraph says the FT is thought to be worth £1bn, but could fetch as much as £2bn as a “trophy asset”.
