Cheryl Cole accused of miming on X Factor
Video: Negative reaction to an energetic performance suggests the British public has fallen out of love with Cole
Cheryl Cole has been accused of miming during parts of her performance on The X Factor results show last night, despite promising she would perform the whole song live.
Cheryl delivered a high-energy rendition of her new single Promise This with a troupe of dancers but X Factor fans on Twitter noticed that parts of her auto-tuned vocals seemed totally unaffected by her heavy breathing.
Andyscraven said: "I sing musical theatre LIVE week in/week out. The truth is Cheryl would sound awful live & they know it!"
clairestorr92 said: "It's no surprise that Cheryl Cole mimed last night due to the fact she can't sing. How can she judge talent when she has none?"
And easily_led wrote: "Am I the only non deluded Cheryl Cole fan on here? I do REALLY like her but I know a chuffin mime job when I see one." [sic]
The negative comments have become a perennial problem for Cheryl, who was criticised for miming during an X Factor performance of her debut single Fight for this Love in October last year. But the latest outcry suggests that Cheryl's love affair with the British public and press is well and truly over.
Both the Daily Mail and the Sun have weighed in against her, despite an ITV spokesman denying any miming on Cheryl's part.
The Sun quoted an anonymous source as saying: "Cheryl performed live for the majority of the song, but during some of the dance moves a backing track was used. The whole point was so she could dance during the chorus. It's what a lot of artists do. Cheryl's routine was very energetic. It wasn't possible to sing it all."
During the final selection process Cheryl faced a vicious backlash for choosing Cher Lloyd and Katie Waissel, two girls who cried through their auditions, over the popular Zimbabwean contestant Gamu Nhengu. Over 130,000 people joined a Facebook page called 'Gamu should have got through' within 48 hours of the broadcast. ·

Yes it's hard to do two things at once, sing and dance, walk and chew gum.......
But when you are passing yourself off as a professional singer and dancer then you should be able to do both at the same time. You don't see Bob Dylan stopping playing guitar to blow into his harmonica! However there is too much money at stake to perform live, and when I say "live" I'm rolling my eyes because I didn't see one musical instrument on that stage.
Its not because she can not see because she can, Every dancer and singer knows you can not do both, it all down to the way you breathing when singing and its very hard to do both thats the reason why she mimed for the chorus so she could dance to it.
I'd rather have her breathing heavily whilst being energetic than singing anyday.
