It seems former Transformers star Megan Fox, who once boasted that appearing in the special effects action franchise did not involve much real acting, may have been right all along. It is understood that Fox, who left Transformers last month, will be replaced by British model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, who has no acting experience whatsoever.

Fox quit the role of Mikaela Barnes within weeks of the start of filming. She was known to have angered Transformers director Michael Bay by declaring in press interviews that the role did not require a great deal of acting. But while it was initially reported that Paramount Studios had dropped Fox, her agent later insisted that it had been the 24-year-old's choice to leave the blockbuster series.

Yesterday her successor, Huntington-Whiteley, 23, was revealed as the new female lead in Transformers 3 via a special video (above) from American lingerie brand Victoria's Secret, for whom she is a regular model. It congratulated her on winning the role as the love interest of Shia LaBeouf's character Sam Witwicky.

If true, Transformers 3 will be Huntington-Whiteley's film debut. And it turns out some some acting skills are required, the ingénue actress will have plenty of brains to pick. Among the cast are John Malkovich, Frances McDormand and Patrick Dempsey, as well as LeBeouf. ·
