Sandra Bullock reveals divorce - and secret baby
Actress had been planning to announce adoption when Jesse James scandal erupted
The Oscar-winning actress Sandra Bullock has delivered a double whammy to the US media: not only is she divorcing her errant husband Jesse James, she has also revealed that she secretly adopted a newborn baby from New Orleans earlier this year.
Bullock and James had planned to announce the happy news after the Oscars in March. But when the scandal of James's affairs blew up, Bullock kept her secret to herself - until now.
The actress unveiled her adopted son Louis - named after Louis Armstrong because, she says, she heard What A Wonderful World playing in her head when she first saw him - on the cover of People.
"He's just perfect, I can't even describe him any other way," she told the magazine. "It's like he's always been part of our lives."
Asked about her husband's extramarital affairs with Michelle 'Bombshell' McGee and other women, Bullock said she "had no idea about anything" until the story broke. "I did the only thing I could do, and that was to pack enough clothes to live on, get all of Louis's things and get out of town. My main concern was for Louis."
She confirmed that the marriage to James was over, and that she would be finalising Louis's adoption as a single parent. "Yes, I have filed for divorce. I'm sad and I'm scared," she said. ·
