Lady Gaga poses for Q in spiky trousers and a dildo

Gaga hoped to comment on rumours she is a hermaphrodite in a ‘beautiful’ way

She may be renowned for her eccentric costumes, but Lady Gaga opted for the simplicity of black spiky trousers, some chains and a dildo during a photoshoot and interview in this month's Q magazine.

The shoot took place in December, a month before she had to cancel a gig in Indiana after she broke down with exhaustion just minutes before going onstage. And the interview gives a taste of what life must be like for Gaga behind the slickly produced spectaculars for which she has become renowned.

Lady Gaga, whose real name is Stefani Germanotta, turned up to the photoshoot with the Haus of Gaga, the creative team made up of her "coolest art friends" which is responsible for her ever more outrageous stylings.

"I want to wear a dick strapped to my vagina," Gaga told Q's journalist, Sylvia Patterson. "We all know one of the biggest talking points this year was that I have a dick, so why not give them what they want? I want to comment on that in a beautiful artistic way."

From the evidence of the resulting photos, the bemused Q photographer and stylist managed to tone down Gaga's demands, persuading her to stuff the dildo she had brought along down her pants - a more subtle commentary, perhaps, on the hermaphrodite rumours.

Unfortunately for Patterson, her interview coincided with a particularly stressful time for Gaga, apparently sparked by differences with her record label, Interscope, over her non-traditional image.

"The last thing any young person needs is another photograph of a woman rubbing her glistening tits, enjoying life, because that's not how we fucking feel," she says.

If any evidence were needed of that sentiment, the chaotic unwinding of the Q photoshoot provided it. After three hours of arguments over style, Gaga returned to her dressing room, saying, "I'm stressed." Minutes later she emerged in tears, and walked out of the studio.

Bravo Lady Gaga and right on!

She's not that bad Peter. Very kissable and lovely eyes. Just because jaded hoi polloi need ever-increasing doses of weirdness to be entertained, now poor old Jacko has gone, it is no licence to deny the fundamental attractions where they exist. She is a bit skinny maybe, but surely the element of taste applies?

I pretty much agree with Peter, I find it worrying such trash can have even one year's success. The individuals come and go, the flow of trash seems more permanent. Just look at the London Fashion show. Look at the populatity of stick on guitar picks for women's fingers. There is something very sick in the world.

Certainly ugly as hell. All the stupid costumes and wigs can't hide the fact that this is one untalented tart trying to outdo Madonna. A year's time, forgotten.
