Simon Cowell ‘not sure’ if he is engaged to Mezhgan

REALITY TV mogul Simon Cowell has been forced to admit he is "not sure" if he's still engaged to his Afghan make-up artist fiancée Mezhgan Hussainy during a radio interview with 'shock jock' Howard Stern.

During a phone interview Stern asked Cowell, who proposed to Hussainy on Valentine's Day in 2010, if the couple were still engaged. Cowell replied that he was "not sure".

Stern then commented: "You seem embarrassed by the women you date... they are lovely women, yet you won't talk about them. I'm a married man and if someone asks me a question about her I am proud to admit I have a relationship."

Cowell (pictured above with Hussainy) replied: "If we were having this conversation off the radio I could have a normal conversation."

Despite Cowell's obvious discomfiture, Stern, an infamous wind-up merchant, went on, asking: "Why is the question 'are you engaged?' so painful to you?"

Cowell replied: "Like I said, it's something I would need to say to you off the radio."

Almost inevitably, celebrity PR man Max Clifford was on hand to explain the situation, telling the Daily Mail: "In terms of the relationship, it is long distance. He is back in England at the moment, and when he goes back she will be doing things.

"When he goes back to the States, she will be doing stuff. To my knowledge there are not any problems."

So that's cleared that up then. ·
