Max Manus
Norwegian drama based on the true story of a resistance fighter in Nazi-occupied Oslo
Norwegian drama, based on a true story, set during the Second World War. Max Manus (Aksel Hennie) is a hero of the Oslo resistance who is sent to destroy German supply ships on sabotage missions. When many of his friends are killed, Manus becomes unsure about his role in the war.
James Christopher, the Times: The entire, fitfully interesting point of the film is watching Manus's mind splinter into bits and pieces. Aksel Hennie plays the conflicted hero as if possessed by the spirits of both Jekyll and Hyde. He is a wicked charmer on his boozy nights off and a guilty monster when it all goes wrong. (Verdict: three stars out of five) ·
