17 Again
A middle-aged loser gets to relive his high school days in this throwback comedy
On the verge of losing his family, an unemployed middle-aged loser (Matthew Perry) dreams of his glory days as the star player on the high school basketball team. Then he's transformed back into his 17-year-old self. Zac Efron, the heartthrob from High School Musical, stars in this light comedy.
WHAT THEY ARE SAYING:Tom Huddleston, Time Out: With its monochrome morality, nerds v jocks characterisation and narrative nods to John Hughes, this is so '80s that one expects Judge Reinhold to wander in. But the leads are charming, the comedy well judged and the script, however predictable, sure-footed. (Verdict: three stars out of six)
Nigel Andrews, Financial Times: Check out 17 Again, an age-swap comedy co-starring Matthew Perry, only if you have daughters who will kill for a sight of heartthrob Zac Efron. The teenage girls at the press show seemed ready to do just that. In the front row, amid a tide of overflowing popcorn, they bayed and cooed. (Verdict: two stars out of five) ·
