JOHN TRAVOLTA and Olivia Newton-John have reprised their roles in the 1970s musical Grease to make a charity Christmas record and accompanying video that commentators have described as "creepy and odd".

The song, I Think You Might Like It, is a kind of sequel to You're the One That I Want, the famous duet between Grease's Danny Zuko (Travolta) and Sandy Olsen (Newton-John).

The chirpy country music song has not made much of an impact, but the video clip accompanying it has gone viral, drawing comments that are mostly uncomplimentary.

Guardian columnist  Sali Hughes said on Twitter: "This has blown my mind. Oddest video ever."

In the video, Travolta, 58, arrives home for Christmas at the controls of his private jet to be met by 64-year-old Newton-John driving a turquoise convertible. The pair perform some awkward dance steps on the runway before heading home and settling down in front of the television in matching red "lounge outfits" to watch the classic Christmas movie, It's A Wonderful Life.

America's ]Today calls the video "bizarre" and suggests "A cup of curdled egg nog might go down easier than this".

The Sun thinks that even diehard /Grease/ fans "will be struggling to know whether to cover their ears or their eyes when they watch this, as the video is painfully hammy".

The US website Vulture is so disturbed by the video it has compiled a list called Ten things that creep us out about John Travolta and Olivia Newton-Johns's new ‘music video. Top of the list is Travolta's "chin hair" - a tiny "jet-black" goatee that is exactly the same colour and texture as the actor's hair – and the fact that Newton-John drives her car at walking pace.

Vulture also criticises the inclusion in the video of Travolta's wife, Kelly Preston, their daughter Ella Bleu and baby Benjamin, which the website says is a deliberate "distraction" from "pesky" rumours the Hollywood actor is gay.

The only creepy thing in here is JT's hair which looks like it is made of "fuzzy felt" and was styled by the armourer who made the helmets for Ming the Merciless !
