Christina Hendricks models Westwood’s jewels
Vivienne Westwood chooses ‘Mad Men’ actress to show off her new jewellery collection
Dame Vivienne Westwood may not have known who Emma Watson was - see our recent report of an embarrassing episode for the young Harry Potter star - but she knows very well who Christina Hendricks is. The London designer has made the Mad Men actress the face of her new jewellery collection, launched this month.
Hendricks, who plays the imperious Joan Harris in Mad Men, is perhaps more famed for her bosom than any American actress since Jane Russell, the 1950s screen goddess whose death was announced earlier this week.
So curvaceous is Hendricks's figure that she has complained in the past of being unable to find designer clothes that fit her in an era when stick-thin is chic.
Jewellery imposes no such limitations, however, and Vivienne Westwood has made the most of Hendricks's stunning looks for her new 'Get a Life' collection of limited edition pieces, all made from the white metal palladium.
Two photos, just released, show Hendricks wearing an oak leaf tiara (top) and a pagan heart necklace (inset). Dame Vivienne personally styled the photoshoot with her husband Andreas Kronthaler.
Clearly delighted with the results, the designer called Hendricks "the embodiment of beauty" and said the Mad Men actress had "proved to be the perfect model for the campaign".
When it was first revealed that Hendricks would be the face of Westwood's jewellery collection, the 35-year-old actress told reporters: "She is my favourite designer. As a young girl I would cut out pictures of her dresses from magazines, although I was never able to afford them. Even now I only have one in my closet."
The 'Get a Life' collection goes on sale in Vivienne Westwood's boutiques in Conduit Street, London and Melrose Place, West Hollywood this month. ·
