Rehab worker charges Lindsay Lohan with assault
But did Lohan’s alleged victim break a federal law by accepting $10k for an interview?
Lindsay Lohan is under investigation for possible assault and battery on a member of staff at the Betty Ford Centre who claimed the troubled actress threw a phone at her and called her “cunt bitch” when she tried to breathalise her.
Staffer Dawn Holland alleges that the Mean Girls star grabbed her arm and began screaming obscenities when she was confronted about missing a curfew and drinking alcohol.
The Palm Desert Police Department have confirmed they were called to the clinic at 1:03 AM on December 12 for "hand-to-hand battery” and that detectives are investigating Holland’s story.
In the official incident report published on TMZ, Holland says that Lohan "threw the phone at me… I threw up my left hand to block it and then she grabbed my right hand and tried to snatch the phone that I had up to my ear, then called me a 'cunt bitch.'"
"I said to her ‘You know that I could press charges against you for putting your hands on me.’ And she replied 'Oh, you want money.' I told her this wasn’t about money, it was about respect [and] she hadn’t shown me any at all."
Lohan, who is just two weeks away from completing her treatment at the rehab centre in California, has denied instigating the attack and says that Holland grabbed her first and that there is CCTV footage to prove it.
Holland has also been fired from her job at the clinic for breaking a confidentiality agreement.
An official statement said: "Regrettably, on December 21, 2010, one of our employees violated strict confidentiality guidelines and laws by publicly identifying patients in a media interview and by disclosing a privileged document. The employee has been terminated by the Betty Ford Center."
It looks like Holland might rue the day she took on one of Hollywood’s most volatile stars. A report on Radaronline suggests that she may also have broken a federal law by accepting around $10,000 for an interview with TMZ while she was still employed as a healthcare worker. ·
