‘Don’t marry’, says Gilliam as Cleese falls in love again
Python star in danger of marrying a fourth American blonde says Terry Gilliam
John Cleese has been told by fellow Monty Python actor Terry Gilliam that he would be well advised not to marry his current American girlfriend, Jennifer Wade. "If he does, he is stupid," said Gilliam, according to a report in the Sunday Telegraph.
Cleese, 71, is said to be so besotted with Wade, 39. However, it is only a year since Cleese went through a bitter divorce from his third wife, American psychotherapist Alyce Faye Eichelberger, which cost him £12 million.
"John has been married already three times and each time to the same woman,” said Gilliam. “They always seem to be blonde, American; the only difference is that each time they get younger and younger."
Cleese recently embarked on a one-man show called A Final Wave at the World (or The Alimony Tour, Year One) to finance his divorce from Eichelberger.
The psychotherapist, who was represented by the same law firm as Prince Charles and Paul McCartney, received £8 million in cash and assets, including an apartment in New York and a house in London’s Holland Park, plus £600,000 a year for seven years.
John Cleese’s previous blonde American wives were his Fawlty Towers co-star Connie Both and the actress Barbara Trentham. ·
