Brazil consider appeal over Kaka’s sending-off

World Cup Fever: Ref fooled after Keita walks into Kaka and falls, clutching his head

Fuming Brazil are considering appealing to Fifa after their star midfielder Kaka was controversially sent off during last night’s 3-1 victory over Ivory Coast.

Already on a yellow, Kaka received a second and was dismissed after Abdelkader Keita apparently walked into the Real Madrid player and then massively exaggerated the impact of the contact, falling to the ground clutching his head, as if he had been punched.

Kaka's dismissal, which his teammates could hardly believe, means that he will now miss Brazil's final World Cup group stage match against Portugal. Fortunately for Brazil, it's not the end of the world as they have already qualified from their group after winning maximum points in their opening two matches.

Speaking after the game, Brazil coach Dunga described the sending-off as a "totally unjustified dismissal of Kaka, he was fouled and yet he was punished."

Brazil look likely to appeal after a spokesman said: "We will think about talking to Fifa. There are hundreds of TV cameras and everyone saw what happened." Even impartial viewers agreed that it was Keita who should have been yellow-carded. ·
