Chelsea celebrate double with talk of Kaka joining
Signing would mark reunion of Brazilian playmaker and his old manager, Ancelotti
Chelsea signed off from their season yesterday with an open-top bus parade through west London, which saw tens of thousands of fans come together to celebrate an historic double following their 1-0 victory over Portsmouth at Wembley on Saturday.
The FA Cup had barely been put back into its case when news began to emerge that moves were being made to sign Kaka from Real Madrid. It would mark a reunion for Kaka with his manager at Milan, Carlo Ancelotti. And it would no doubt be a welcome one for the Brazilian playmaker whose £56m move to Real Madrid has not been a success. In comparison with Cristiano Ronaldo, he has seemed mediocre.
For Chelsea, Kaka would add star power and technique to a team that have shown under Ancelotti that they can beguile and impress with the ball at their feet – but who are still staring at the elephant in the room, namely the lack of a European trophy.
The key thing for Chelsea is that their billionaire owner Roman Abramovich is excited again and possibly looking to invest. ·
