Transfer Talk: Blues keeper set for the chop; Man Utd may move for Klaas-Jan Huntelaar

Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti has lost patience with keeper Petr Cech after a series of blunders and will swoop for West Ham's Robert Green in January, according to the Express.

Cech is certainly struggling at the moment - 11 of the 13 goals Chelsea have conceded this season have come from set pieces. But the Italian manager already has two understudies in the form of Portuguese Henrique Hilario and Ross Turnbull, the young stopper he signed from Middlesbrough in the summer. Despite this, the Express says Green is the man to replace Cech.

Ancelotti may move to thwart one of his rivals from signing England hopeful Green in the transfer window. Aston Villa are also reportedly keen on the keeper, and could offer Brad Friedl in exchange.

Could Alex Ferguson be about to fool the world and bring a striker to Old Trafford? Recent transfer speculation has linked the Manchester United boss to a host of defenders – among them Sol Campbell and Cardiff teenager Adam Matthews – as the Reds look to shore up their injury-prone back four, but the Daily Mail reports today that Ferguson is keen to make Klaas-Jan Huntelaar a United player.

The Dutch striker hasn't had the best of spells at AC Milan since joining the Italian club from Real Madrid in the summer, and the Mail says: "United face a battle with former England boss Steve McClaren to sign [the] AC Milan striker".

Huntelaar has warmed the bench for most of his unhappy stint at the San Siro and with the World Cup just around the corner, the 26-year-old wants a chance to impress Dutch boss Bert van Marwijk over the coming months.

Holland would seem the obvious place to do that, but the Mail says that although "Steve McClaren's FC Twente are trying to negotiate a loan to take him back to Holland… his advisers want a bigger club." United are top of the list and Ferguson could make his move in next month's transfer window.

The Sun reports that Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez is determined to bolster his brittle team with some new signings next month, and one of the players he has his eye on is West Ham's Scott Parker.

According to the  Sun, "Liverpool are ready with a £6 million offer for the midfielder when the transfer window opens next month", with Benitez seeing the 29-year-old Parker as a natural replacement for Javier Mascherano, the unhappy Argentine who has been linked with a move to Barcelona.

Parker joined West Ham in the summer of 2007 in a £7m move from Newcastle but his £50,000 a week wage bill is hitting the Hammers' pocket hard, and an offer from Liverpool would help ease the London club's debts.

Another midfielder reportedly on the move next month is Tottenham's David Bentley. According to the Mirror the 25-year-old "will plead with Tottenham to let him leave during January's transfer window… after suffering a nightmare since his £17 million move to Spurs 18 months ago".

Bentley joined the London club from Blackburn but this season he's lost his place to Aaron Lennon and Spurs' boss Harry Redknapp has given him precious few opportunities to impress. The pair "had an angry confrontation during the friendly match [at non-league Gray's] last Tuesday", says the Mirror, "and it would now seem the England midfielder has no future at White Hart Lane."

The paper adds that Bentley's old boss at Blackburn, Mark Hughes, now in charge at Manchester City, is favourite to sign the player.

The Sun reports that both Manchester United and Arsenal have been warned off Standard Liege defender Steven Defour.

The 21-year-old is valued at £15m and his agent suggested that a summer move could be on the cards. Paul Stefani said: "Of course Steven would be interested in coming to England in the future." ·
